The Adoption Process

What to Expect

  1. Adoptions begin with an approved application. You can complete the application online (see link below) or in person at PetSmart, Highway 92, Woodstock. Adoptions are held almost every Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM.
  2. Please bring a current form of ID.
  3. Your adoption fee can be made via cash or credit card. In most cases, you can take your new pet home the same day!
  4. CHS reserves the right to request a home visit or picture(s) of where your pet will be living. This is for safety and security reasons.

What does the adoption fee include?

All CHS dogs/puppies are examined by veterinarians, spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, flea treated, micro-chipped, heartworm tested, if they are old enough, and dental, if needed.

Follow-up vaccinations will be completed and stitch removal, when applicable, following approved adoption. Please bring your paperwork to the Cherokee Humane Society Thrift Store, 12156 Highway 92, Woodstock. We do these follow-up vaccinations and stitch removal only on Saturday from 12 to 2 PM. Please make an appointment by texting: 770-548-1453.
